FAQs

Mom and baby are in good hands
What is ultrasound?
Fetal ultrasound uses sound vibrations to create images of the unborn baby in the womb. Very short bursts of sound are sent through the body in a series of focused beams. Echoes from the beams are converted into images that show the baby’s first movements.
What’s the difference between 2D and 3D/4D ultrasound?
The traditional, two-dimensional (2D) ultrasound offers a black and white snapshot of your new baby in the womb. Three-dimensional (3D) ultrasound provides a high-resolution, life-like baby picture that can be also be viewed live like a video thanks to the 4D (real-time) capabilities.
How safe is 3D/4D ultrasound?

Diagnostic fetal ultrasound is considered one of the safest means for obtaining information about your unborn baby when performed by a licensed sonographer. Health Canada reports that the clinical use of fetal ultrasound has an excellent safety record. There have been millions of these examinations over the past few decades with no confirmed health risks for the baby or the mother. This finding is consistent with the majority of scientific studies on the effects of ultrasound.

When in my pregnancy should I book my 3D ultrasound?

Your keepsake ultrasound baby pictures can best be captured between 24 and 34 weeks of pregnancy,

Do I need a full bladder?
